Theatre in the Mountain 2025-26 – 2nd Semester

Organised by this Section, the Theatre in the Mountain will feature Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In in March. This is a passionate story filled with friendship and mentor–student bonds. Moreover, we are honored to invite the author of Kowloon Walled City, Yu Yi, will share how he used words to recreate the history and human stories of the Walled City. He will also talk about the process and challenges of adapting the novel into a comic and a film. Details are set out below:

* Synopsis

Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In

 

Set in the eighties inside the dangerous and enigmatic Kowloon Walled City, which was a de jure Chinese enclave within British colonial Hong Kong, “Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In” follows troubled youth Chan Lok-kwun as he accidentally enters the Walled City, discovers the order amidst its chaos, and learns important life lessons along the way. In the Walled City, he becomes close friends with brothers. Under the leadership of Tornado, they resist against the invasion of villain Mr. Big in a series of fierce battles. Together, they vow to protect the safe haven that is Kowloon Walled City.

 

 

The film won a total of nine awards at the 43rd Hong Kong Film Awards, including Best Film and Best Director.


Theatre in the Mountain 2025-26 - Screening in February

 

Organised by this Section, the Theatre in the Mountain will feature Paws Land in February, which focuses on rescuing local stray animals. The film captures, with an honest lens, the rescuers' struggles between moral choices and emotional challenges, helping the audience gain a deeper understanding of the hardships in animal protection work. Director, Au Cheuk Man is invited to deliver a sharing. * Synopsis

Paws Land

 

The movie traced how Paws Guardian, a civilian organisation in Hong Kong, saved stray animals from 2019 to 2023. It details how those animals were neglected, abused... some were seriously injured, some were feasted on by parasites... some were abandoned because they weren't nice to look at anymore… In 4 years, we filmed over 40 stray dogs, only 4 were finally adopted–a brutal reality!

* Synopsis

In the Mood for Love

 

In 1960, Su Li-zhen (Maggie Cheung) first meets Yuddy (Leslie Cheung) at the snack bar of the South China Athletic Association. Then, in 1962, she meets Chow Mo-wan (Tony Leung) when they both move into apartments rented from Mrs. Suen (Rebecca Pan). The two soon discover that their spouses are having an affair, and when it becomes clear that their friendship is starting to blossom into something more, they are reluctant to begin an affair themselves. "In the Mood for Love" is often ranked as one of the greatest films of all time and is considered a landmark of Asian cinema. In 2005, it was selected by the Hong Kong Film Awards Association as one of the “Top 100 Chinese Films.”

* Synopsis

3CM

 

Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC) is a genetic disorder that causes noncancerous tumors to grow in different parts of the body. However, the Hong Kong government has been slow to allow treatment for the disease, especially in relaxing regulations for drugs that treat the tumors. After taking an in-depth look at ordinary citizens facing death in his critically-acclaimed documentary Snuggle, director Wong Siu-pong now turns his camera on Hong Kong’s medical system with this heartrending documentary about a young TSC patient who also lost her mother to the disease.
