Apart from pursuing academic excellence, students of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) are also endeavouring to make contributions to the non-academic aspects. Introduced in 2018, the CUHK Outstanding Students Awards were classified into five categories, namely Innovation and Invention, Sports, Arts, Social Service, and Special Achievement. Qualified students should demonstrate excellent achievements, qualities and traits in one of these areas. The awards aim to recognise the students’ significant contributions and their continual positive impact on the CUHK community and society.

Since 2023, SEDS has annually arranged the Outstanding Students Awards Presentation Ceremony to celebrate the outstanding achievement of over 100 awardees. By bringing together awardees, their parents, friends, and esteemed guests—including the Vice-Chancellor—the ceremony serves to recognise the hard work and dedication of students, fostering a spirit of excellence within the university community.

This event not only acknowledges individual accomplishments but also aims to inspire all students to pursue their goals with passion and commitment. By showcasing the diverse talents and contributions of the awardees, the ceremony reinforces CUHK’s mission to cultivate well-rounded individuals who positively impact society. Ultimately, the event strengthens the bond among the university community, encouraging collaboration and support as students strive for further success.
