Blossoms in March — A Flourishing CUHK Campus

Blossoms in March, is an opportunity for you to slow down and explore the university in this flourishing season.  Let’s enjoy music, stretch your body, ramble on campus, admire nature and immerse a unique lifestyle in the moment.

 

【Blossoms in March Music Concert】 

The “Blossoms in March Music Concert” is a soothing event that unites CUHK performers, including students, professors and renowned local singers, most of whom are CUHK alumni.  This connection fosters a unique bond between the performers and CUHK.  All CUHK students and staff are welcome to attend the concert.  Details are set out below:

From 9:00 am on 26 February 2025 (Wednesday) until 9:00 am on 12 March 2025 (Wednesday)

Remarks:

  • Admission for registered participants will start 40 minutes before the event.

  • Please bring along your CU Link to the event for verification, or admittance to the event will be denied. 

  • Free seating is made on a first-come-first-served basis.

  • Walk-in participants will be admitted 10 minutes before the start of event.

  • If you cannot attend the event, please cancel your registration on the registration website.


 

Small Group Activities


A series of small-group activities are arranged under Blossoms in March for exploration of various possibilities on campus.  All CUHK students are welcome to participate in the following activities.   Details of them are set out below:


Session 1: Lake Ad Excellentiam - Its Flora and Cultural Heritage

Lake Ad Excellentiam is CUHKers' "Royal Garden".  This area was originally farmland and ponds near the sea.  It was locked and inaccessible until 1997 when major renovations were completed.  It has become an area for leisure, contemplation and education.  The design and selection of flowers and trees were meticulously considered to enhance the cultural atmosphere and cultivate virtues.  This session is scheduled on International Happy Day, offering a chance to understand the botanical knowledge and history of Lake Ad Excellentiam.  The event provides a platform for students to reflect on the thoughtful stories behind Lake Ad Excellentiam and appreciate the beauty of the lake.

Participants are advised to bring their own sunscreen, insect repellent, and rain gear.

 

Session 2: Forest Therapy Workshop

Instructor, Mr Chan Yiu Sun, an experienced forest therapy guide, will lead students on a walk around Lake Ad Excellentiam.  Participants can calm their minds and bodies, slow down their pace, and perceive nature through different senses in the workshop.  While appreciating the beauty of Lake Ad Excellentiam in spring, students will also experience the healing power of nature and release stress.

Remarks:

Participants are advised to wear suitable clothing for outdoor activities. Please bring drinking water, sunscreen and insect repellent.  If you have any special medical conditions or records, please inform us in advance.


Session 3: Flourishing in CU – A Radiating Yoga at Art Museum

Yoga experience at the newly established Lo Kwee Seong Pavilion of the CUHK Art Museum, the latest landmark in CUHK,  this session offers students a unique opportunity to harmonise body and mind, immersed in the view of the campus and Ma Liu Shui through the floor-to-ceiling glass windows of the Lee Hysan Atrium.  This unique yoga experience helps you to relieve stress, focus on your breath, unwind your mind, and find tranquillity.

Host:

Ms. Vicky Hui (a certified RYT200, RPYT yoga instructor; As a yoga practitioner for over 10 years, yoga has helped Vicky find balance amidst her busy life, providing her body and mind a chance to calm and relax.  She hopes to promote the benefits of yoga for physical, mental, and spiritual health to everyone through her own experiences.)

Poem in Campus

During the spring season, volunteers from The Independent Learning Centre and the Department of Chinese Language and Literature are engaged in transcribing theme-related poetry and displayed throughout the campus.  This allows CUHK members to appreciate the works and immerse themselves in the unique atmosphere created by the poetry and scenery.


Date: 24 March - 13 April 2025

Location: CUHK Campus


No registration is required.  Poetry works will be updated weekly.  All CUHK students and staff are welcome to enjoy them.
