The Hong Kong Red Cross University Club (RCU) – CUHK Inauguration Ceremony & Elite Partnership Award 2024 was successfully held on 20 March 2025 evening, marking a significant milestone in CUHK’s humanitarian journey. This year, nine dedicated CUHK students founded the university’s first Red Cross University Club (RCU), “Meraki”, with a mission to promote care for vulnerable communities and raise awareness of global humanitarian issues. Through awareness campaigns, volunteer initiatives, and blood donation drives, “Meraki” will uphold the core values of humanitarian, providing CUHK students with a platform to engage in meaningful humanitarian efforts.

At the Ceremony, the Hong Kong Red Cross also presented the Young Donor Medal Prizes to those CUHK students who have donated blood at least three times in 2024, recognising their commitment to saving lives. Moreover, during the CUHK University Blood Donation Marathon in March 2025, 324 registrations for blood donation were received from our CUHK community; and a total number of 284 units of blood were being collected. Therefore, CUHK received the Elite Partnership Award for its longstanding support of the blood donation movement, and reflecting the university’s dedication to fostering a strong culture of humanitarian service.

Congratulations to “Meraki” and all award recipients! We encourage all CUHK students to support the impactful initiatives led by “Meraki” and the Hong Kong Red Cross, whether by volunteering, donating blood, or participating in humanitarian projects. Let’s join hands to support those in need, uphold the values of humanity, and make a meaningful difference!
